Responsible for coordinating a team of technical analysts responsible for the design, installation, configuration, management and customer turnup of the version 3 nationwide Internet network over a mixture of ATM and DWDM Sonet utilizing Cisco GSR high-speed backbone routers and Cisco GSR and 7500 access routers. Link types included OC3 and OC12 across Lucent ATM switches, and OC48 across Sycamore and Nortel DWDM transport.
Team was also responsible for the installation, configuration and management of in-band management networks for ATM, private line over ATM, transport, voice and IP network elements.
Personal responsibilities included working with other departments to coordinate design, development and operation of Internet services offered by Williams Communications, as well as resource management related to deployment, and operation of the Internet and in-band management network.
Senior Technical Analyst
(10/1997 – 02/2000)
Responsible for the design and implementation of a nation-wide dual hub and spoke IP over frame relay to carry out of band management and environmental alarms between unmanned point-of-presence locations and a central network operation center. Network provided for physical alarm reporting, connectivity to network element Ethernet management and serial console ports. Network utilized dynamic on-demand dial backup solution in the event of full frame-relay failure.
Responsible for the design, implementation and support of EMS/NMS systems and network, including a dual-redundant design that utilized multiple Cisco Catalyst switches and 7507 routers running HSRP and OSPF. This network was the core management network, included termination of all remote element management networks, including the inband ATM, Nortel DMS 250 voice, Sentient and Optical transport management networks. The network also had extensions to the two network operations center for survivability in the event of failure of the internal IT network.
Responsible for the design, installation, configuration and management of the version 1 nation-wide IP over ATM Internet network utilizing Cisco 7500 routers and Ascend GX550 ATM switches supporting dedicated high-speed Transit as well as Remote Access and Broadband Remote Access.
Responsible for design, installation, configuration, field verification testing and management of the version 2 nation-wide IP over ATM Internet network utilizing Cisco GSR high-speed backbone routers and 7500 series access routers and Ascend GX550 ATM switches.
Responsible for Design, implementation and management of Internet services network including DNS, SMTP, NNTP, HTTP and FTP servers utilizing Sun Ultra hardware and Cisco Catalyst switches and 7500 series routers. Network design included security implementation to protect the network elements from possible attack threats from the Internet.
